Magnesium hydroxide reduces stomach acid, and increases water in the intestines which may induce bowel movements. Magnesium hydroxide is used as a laxative to relieve occasional constipation. Magnesium hydroxide is also used as an antacid to relieve indigestion, sour stomach, and heartburn.</p>
